Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to recognize and celebrate the outstanding performance achievements of Taekwondo Manitoba member athletes and coaches in the sport of taekwondo.
Eligibility
To be eligible for an Athlete/Coach Award:
• An individual must be a member in good standing of Taekwondo Manitoba.
• Membership fees must have been paid in the first two months of the fiscal year.
• Athletes/Coach must have actively participated together in a Taekwondo Canada National event, wherein standing on the medals podium was obtained.
• Individual competition in Kyorugi and/or Sport Poomsae, male and female, para and able bodied categories
• Qualifying divisions for Kyorugi are as follows: Cadets, Junior“A” and Senior athletes/coaches.
Qualifying divisions for Poomsae will include Juniors and all Senior divisions. Also to include pair and team divisions
Qualifying events will include all National, Team Trial and Qualifying events sanctioned by the National Sport Organization.
Award Guidelines:
Anyone may submit a nomination for award (i.e. the individual athlete, a coach, an official, a parent/guardian)
.The nomination must be submitted in writing to the Awards and Recognition Committee Chair, no later than two (2) weeks post national competition.
The nomination must include the following:
• Athlete/Coach particulars
– name; age; gender; poom/dan ranking and digital photo for promotional purposes
•Competition name, date and location
•Weight category/division and overall placing (gold, silver, bronze)
Award Honorarium
Upon verification that an athlete/coach has met all of the eligibility criterion and nomination information accuracy and completeness, the Awards and Recognition Committee will notify the Executive that an award is to be granted.
Athlete Honorariums will be issued as follows:
Senior Division
• Gold Medal Award
- $300.00 Canadian (payable to the individual athlete)
• Silver Medal Award
- $200.00 Canadian (payable to the individual athlete)
• Bronze Medal Award
- $100.00 Canadian (payable to the individual athlete)
Junior “A” Division
• Gold Medal Award
- $300.00 Canadian (payable to the individual athlete)
• Silver Medal Award
- $200.00 Canadian (payable to the individual athlete)
• Bronze Medal Award
- $ 100.00 Canadian (payable to the individual athlete)
Cadet Division
• Gold Medal Award
- $ 300.00 Canadian (payable to the individual athlete)
• Silver Medal Award
- $ 200.00 Canadian (payable to the individual athlete)
• Bronze Medal Award
- $ 100.00 Canadian (payable to the individual athlete)
Coach Honorariums will be issued as follows:
• A maximum one award per coach per event for any medal performance. Award will be given to the coach coaching in the matches obtaining bronze, silver or gold rounds are not included.
$200.00 Canadian (payable to the individual coach)
*Notification, preparation and distribution of the Awards will be managed by the Treasurer and Committee Chair.
